After heavily teasing the phone on Amazon, the Chinese giant Huawei has now finally launched its flagship Huawei Mate 20 Pro smartphone in India. As mentioned, the device will be sold in Emerald Green and Twilight colours exclusively via Amazon for a price of 69,990.
Sales will begin from December 4, though Amazon Prime members will be allowed purchase the phone on December 3 itself under early-bird access. Huawei is also offering Sennheiser PXC 550 wireless headphones (worth Rs. 29,500) bundled with the phone at Rs. 71,990.
As for the specs, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro sports a 6.39-inch curved OLED display with Quad HD+ resolution of 1440×3120 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The display further boasts DCI-P3 HDR support and a notch on top that houses an IR-based 3D facial recognition system for unlocking the device, in addition to the front camera, earpiece and other stuff.
Under the hood, the phone gets powered by Huawei’s latest HiSilicon Kirin 980, built on a 7nm manufacturing process, coupled with Mali-G76 MP10 GPU. Only the base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage is launched in India. Not to forget, the phone also packs in a nanoSD card slot for further storage expansion up to 256GB.
Coming to the optics, the Mate 20 Pro gets a triple camera setup at the rear, featuring a 40-megapixel main sensor with f/.8 aperture, a 20-megapixel ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture and an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor which allows for 3X optical zoom and up to 5X hybrid zoom using all the three shooters simultaneously. Whereas, the front bears a 24-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture.
On the software front, it runs latest Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.0 on top. All of this is backed by a 4200mAh battery with the support for 40W Super Charge fast charging, which is claimed to juice up 70% of the phone in mere 30 minutes, bringing it close to the OPPO’s proprietary Super VOOC fast charging tech introduced in Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition. Interestingly, the phone supports 15W wireless charging and has the ability to reverse charge devices which can be charged wirelessly.
In addition to the face unlock, the Mate 20 Pro gets an in-display fingerprint scanner as its primary unlock method. Additional features include IP68 Water and Dust resistance, Dolby Atmos, and HiVision app that provides AI based visual search and translation features. Lastly, the connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, Type-C, and NFC.
