The Chinese smartphone giant Huawei recently announced its flagship Mate 20-series including Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20X and Mate 20 RS Porsche edition, soon after which, the company confirmed that it’d be bringing the Huawei Mate 20 Pro soon to India. Now, the device will finally be launching in the country on November 27, says the recent media invite sent by the company.
Although the invite doesn’t mention the exact name of the device launching, it showcases the back of Mate 20 Pro along with the tagline “A Higher Intelligence” and the date it is intended for.
As for the specs, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro sports a 6.39-inch OLED display having a Quad HD+ resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and an 86.9 percent screen-to-body ratio. It also features a Notch on top that houses 3D depth sensing facial recognition system, just like the latest iPhones.
Under the hood, the device is powered by 7nm-based HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC paired with 6GB/ 8GB of RAM and 128/ 256GB of onboard storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a Nano SDcard.
In the optics department, the phone gets a triple camera setup at the rear, comprising of a 40-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 20-megapixel ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture and an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor allowing for 3X optical zoom and up to 5X hybrid zoom. On the front, we have a 24MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 for selfies.
On the software front, it runs Android 9.0 Pie based on latest EMUI 9. Fueling the handset is a massive 4000mAh battery that supports Huawei’s proprietary 40W SuperCharge for fast charging, bringing it close to the OPPO Find X Lamborghini Edition when it comes to the charging speeds. It can be charged wirelessly and can also be used to juice up other supported devices, in the same manner, thanks to the in-built Reverse Wireless charging feature.
The company has also given an In-display fingerprint scanner for unlocking the device in addition to the face unlock. Connectivity options onboard include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, and USB Type-C support.
The Mate 20 Pro price in Europe starts at €1049 which roughly translates Rs.89,000. As of now, there are no words on the Indian pricing, but we expect it to land for around Rs. 70,000. Till then, stay tuned.
