Honor unveiled its budget smartphone Honor Play 8A a month back in China earlier this month. The handset was previously spotted on TENAA which hinted the major specifications of the handset.
Now, sources claim that the brand has plans to make the device available in India in the upcoming weeks. On the display front, the brand has placed a waterdrop shaped notch to house the camera which brings the screen-to-body ratio to 87%.
Right before the launch of the device, it was listed on Vmall, a Chinese e-commerce website which helped to get a hint of the specifications.
In terms of specifications, the Honor 8A will sport a 6.09 inch IPS display with a resolution of HD+ (1560 x 720 pixels). It will run on EMUI 9.0 on top of the latest Android 9 Pie and will be available in 32GB and 64GB storage variants with 3GB RAM.
Under the hood, it will be powered by a 2.35 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 and backed by a 3,050 mAh. There seems to be no fingerprint sensor which means it will likely come with Face Unlock feature.
In terms of camera, the Honor 8A will come with an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture while the rear single camera is a 13MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture with phase detection autofocus that is capable of recording at 1080p @ 30fps. The 7A had a 2MP depth sensing secondary sensor, but the 8A misses one. There is a dual SIM tray card with an expandable memory by a microSD card up to 512GB.
The device was unveiled for CNY 799 (Rs 8,000 approx) for the base variant with 3 GB RAM +32GB onboard storage while the 3GB RAM + 64GB storage was priced at CNY 999 (Rs 10,000 approx). As far as the software is concerned, it runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 on top. The brand will be announcing regarding the Indian launch later this week. Till then, stay tuned for updates.
