The Honor Magic 2 is one of the most anticipated phones of this year due to its bezel-less display and the Mechanical Slider, making it one of the biggest competitors of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. Apart from the leaks and reports we saw in past, the device now has finally received its certification from the Chinese Telecom Regulatory Authority-TENAA. Also, we now have some of the hands-on images of the handset revealing its design and some of the features.
As per the images posted by the Chinese actress Zanilia Zhao on Weibo, the phone comes with an edge-to-edge display at the front with a negligible chin at the bottom. The red colored device bears a glossy glass back which further houses two cameras stacked with an LED flash along with a segregated third camera, reminiscent to the triple cameras on the Huawei P20 Pro. The images are in-line with the previous leaks and also give us a glimpse of the custom virtual assistant named “Yoyo” and the black colored retail box of the phone.
Another teaser image of the phone has been released too, which reveals the side panel of the phone, take a look:
Also a hands on video teaser of the phone has been released too, take a look:
Coming to the TENAA listing, the Honor Magic 2 will sport a 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 2340 ×1080 pixels resolution in a 19:9 aspect ratio. Further, the phone is most likely to feature an In-Display fingerprint scanner for unlocking the device.
Under the hood, the device will be powered by the Huawei’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 980 flagship chipset coupled with Mali-G76MP10 GPU. Moreover, it will come in two RAM and storage configurations including 6/128GB and 8/256GB which cannot be expanded further due to the lack of an SD card slot.
In the optics department, the Honor Magic 2 will get a triple camera setup at the rear, featuring a 16-megapixel primary shooter, followed by a 24-megapixel secondary shooter and a 16-megapixel telephoto lens with LED flash. While at the front, we’ll have a 16-megapixel shooter with a 20-megapixel and a 2-megapixel shooter with ToF 3D sensing for Face Unlock. If this turns out be a reality, then the Magic 2 will become the world’s first mainstream smartphone to bear a total of six cameras.
On the software front, the phone will run on EMUI 9.0 based on latest Android 9.0 (Pie) and will draw its juice from a 3400mAh battery bundled with a 40-watt Magic Charger.
Moreover, the device will bear connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C and will weigh 206grams. Interestingly, the device is expected to pack in a 95% + Screen-to-body ratio due to its minimal bezels and the mechanical sliding mechanism which hides the front cameras and earpiece just like the Oppo Find X (but not motorized).
The Honor Magic 2 is set for the launch on 31st of October. Let us see how does it fare against the Mi Mix 3 which is going launch a few days earlier. Till then, Stay tuned.
