The Honor 8A was spotted in TENAA last month where we got an insight into the design aspects of the smartphone. The phone is also currently listed for pre-order on Vmall and will be available in Aurora Blue, Magic Night and Platinum Gold color options though a red variant can also be seen on the website, but is yet to be listed.
Take a look at the official render images that is listed in Vmall:
The Honor 8A lacks a dual camera setup at the rear compared to its predecessor Honor 7A, but it will feature a dew drop notch unlike the 7A which came with a wider notch. The rear of the device seems to have a glossy finish, so a plastic finish is expected instead of 7A’s metallic finish.
From the previous posts, the Honor 8A will sport a 6.09 inch IPS display with a resolution of HD+ (1560 x 720 pixels). It will run on EMUI 9.0 on top of the latest Android 9 Pie and will be available in 32GB and 64GB storage variants with 3GB RAM. Under the hood, it will be powered by a 2.35 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 and backed by a 3,050 mAh. It is coupled with a IMG GE8320 GPU clocked at 680MHz. There seems to be no fingerprint sensor which means it will likely come with Face Unlock feature.
In the optics department, the Honor 8A will come with a 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture while the rear single camera is a 13MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture with phase detection autofocus that is capable of recording at 1080p @ 30fps. The 7A had a 2MP depth sensing secondary sensor, but the 8A misses one. There is a dual SIM tray card with an expandable memory by a microSD card up to 512GB.
The Honor 8A will launched in China on January 8 in the CES 2019 which will take place in Las Vegas. As for the price, the handset will cost CNY 799 (Rs 8,000 approx) for the base variant with 3GB RAM +32GB onboard storage while the 3GB RAM + 64GB storage variant have a price tag of CNY 999 (Rs 10,000 approx).
