Honor has launched a new smartphone named as the Honor 7S. This entry level budget smartphone is basically the re-branded Honor Play 7 that was announced in China, back in May followed by the Pakistan launch. The main highlights of the device are its modern 18:9 display and competitive pricing, and will compete with the likes of the upcoming Redmi 6A and the recently launched Infinix Smart 2 in India.
The Honor 7S comes with an aluminium back and 2.5D curved glass up front. It sports a 5.45-inch IPS LCD FullView display with HD+ resolution in an 18:9 aspect ratio, making it stand out from the competition. Moreover, the display has pixel density of 295 ppi and bears a 73.8% screen-to-body ratio.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the quad-core Mediatek MT6739 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, coupled with PowerVR GE8100 GPU alongside of 2GB RAM and 16GB of on-board storage. The dedicated MicroSD card allows further storage expansion up to 256GB.
In the optics department, the Honor 7S gets a solo 13-megapixel sensor aided by dual tone LED flash and PDAF at the back, while we have a 5-megapixel shooter at the front for selfies with LED flash (unlike the 24MP found on the china specific Honor Play 7).
On the software front, the phone runs on EMUI 8.1 based on Android Oreo and draws its juice from a 3,020mAh battery supported by Honor’s new Smart battery management 6.0.
Connectivity features like 3.5mm audio jack, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and MicroUSB are present on the device. To cut the costs, device skimps on a fingerprint scanner and relies on Face Unlock method for unlocking the device.
The Honor 7S comes in Black, Gold and Blue color options and is priced at Rs. 6,999 for the solo 2/16GB variant. It will be sold exclusively via Flipkart and the first flash sale for the same is scheduled for September 14 at 12pm.
