Huawei seems to have started concentrating on mid-range smartphones. Their very own sub-brand Source has launched a new smartphone in the mid-range category, the Honor 7A as anticipated. The first looks of the device closely resemble their own Honor 8 Pro, and is just like the previous reports about the device.
The smartphone lives up to the expectations from a 2018 device, the 18:9 aspect ratio. The company calls it FullView display. The bezels are kept minimal on the device.
Talking about the specifications, the device measures 152.4 x 73 x 7.8 mm. It sports a 5.77-inch HD+ 2.5D curved glass display. Luckily, the device does not pack a notch despite coming with the 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by Snapdragon 430. The company has only included 2GB of RAM. But there is another variant offering 3 GB RAM. The internal storage is limited to 32GB in both the variants.
In terms of camera, there is a dual camera setup. A primary 13-megapixel sensor is accompanied with 2 MP secondary sensor which can be used to capture the depth information for portrait shots, but only the 3GB RAM variant features a dual cam and not the base variant, which only features the 13MP cam and not the depth sensor. There is a fingerprint sensor mounted on the back of the smartphone. It is placed below the dual camera. The front camera is an 8 MP sensor supporting face unlock, beauty mode and soft LED flash.
The device draws juice from a decent 3000mAh battery. It runs on Google Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box on top of EMUI. The device will be available from tomorrow. It is priced at $ 126 which is approximately Rs. 8,250 for the base 2GB RAM variant. The 3GB variant is priced at $ 158 or Rs. 10,315. On this price point, this is a decent offering but it is not so likely for people to choose the Honor 7A against the feature-packed competitors like Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has finally taken the cover off three new smartphones – the Meizu 15, Meizu 15 Plus and Meizu 15 Lite. All three of them will come with Meizu’s new mEngine and won’t come with a notch, despite 2018 being the unofficial year for notch. Both Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 plus come with dual cameras on the rear whereas the Meizu 15 Lite has stuck with just one camera thus highlighting the ‘Lite’.
Starting with the display, the Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus feature Super AMOLED display with a traditional 16:9 aspect ration instead of adopting the full screen 18:9 ratio. Also, the Meizu 15 comes with a 5.46 inch full HD display whereas the Plus variant comes with a slightly larger 5.95 inch QHD display.
Coming to the processor, the Meizu 15 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa core SoC processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage options depending on the variant you decide to go with. On the imaging front, both the Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus come with dual cameras on the rear. Of the two, one comes with a 12 MP sensor with wide angle lens and the other with 20 MP sensor with telephoto lens giving you as much as 3X lossless zoom. To add to that, the Meizu 15 Plus comes with a OIS and EIS whereas the smaller one comes with just OIS. According to Meizu, the cameras come with multi-frame noise reduction and HDR algorithms just like Huawei P20. On the front, both of them feature a 20 MP camera to help you click vivid selfies.
