Honor 10 GT with GPU Turbo & 8GB RAM Launched in China

Honor has launched their latest flagship, Honor 10 in May in China and later in India. The phone came with 6GB of RAM and was being powered by their in-house Kirini 970 processor. The company has now launched an upgraded version of the Honor 10 that comes with 8GB of RAM in China. For the sake of not messing up names and confusing consumers, this new variant is called as the Honor 10 GT.

The Honor 10 GT doesn’t just come with extra RAM, but also ships with the latest GPU Turbo and tripod-free Night Mode update (much like the one in Huawei P20 Pro). However, apart from these few things, there are no changes in terms of hardware. The phone packs the same 5.84-inch Full HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio.

It is powered by the same Kirin 970 chipset with AI features. Although there is an upgrade to the RAM, the internal storage still remains at 128GB. There are the same camera setups on the back and the front- There is a dual camera setup on the back and on the front, there is one single selfie shooter.

However, in terms of performance, it might be a bit better as Huawei claimed that the new GPU Turbo update can increase the performance by 60%, but at the same time, it can lower the power usage by 30%. The software update is currently in beta, but it will be pushed to all by July 15. The phone will start selling from July 24 via flash sale on Honor Online Store and JD.com. But pricing details are not available at this moment.

Xiaomi, after all the leaks and rumours has finally launched their Mi Max 3 in China. The affordable phablet by the Chinese phone manufacturer comes after 12 months after the launch of its predecessor Mi Max 2. The main highlights of this device is the large display, dual cameras and a massive battery. 

The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 features a metallic body and doesn’t come with a top notch. It has a massive 6.9 inch  display with a resolution of FHD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) an aspect ratio of 18:9, 520 nits brightness, 84% color gamut and a 1,500:1 contrast ratio.

Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Octa-core Snapdragon 636 chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz and Adreno 509 GPU. It is available in two configurations: 4GB of RAM + 64GB internal storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage which can be further expanded to 256GB.

There is a dual camera setup of (12MP + 5MP)  with f/1.9 aperture in the back with a LED flash stacked in between while the front sports a 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture,1.12 micron pixels, soft selfie light. The cameras have an always learning feature which means it will develop over time. The AI powered cameras can adapt to 206 different scenes and improve it.

It runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and is backed by 5,500 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. The device comes bundle with company’s own virtual assistant XiaoAI which will likely to be replaced with Google Assistant in International markets.

Connectivity options include Dual 4G VoLTE. 2.4GHZ/5GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 ac MIMO, Bluetooth 5, GPS and GLONASS, Dual SIM ,USB Type-C and a 3.5 mm jack while sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, infrared sensor, proximity senor, ambient light sensor, compass, gyroscope and an fingerprint sensor in the rear though it comes with Face Unlocking too. It measures 176 x 87.4 x 7.99 mm and weighs 221 grams.

As for the pricing, the Mi Max 3 comes with a price tag of CNY 1,699 (Rs 17,000 approx) and CNY 1,999 (Rs 20,000 approx) for the 4GB and 6GB variant respectively. It will be available in Meteorite Black, Dream Gold, Dark Blue color options.Its currently up for pre-orders and will officially go on sale from July 20. There is no word about the international release as of now, but its confirmed for an Europe launch.

Vivo Nex Launched in India at a Price of Rs.44,990!

Vivo finally released the much awaited Vivo Nex in India. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer unveiled it last month in China  and is the market ready version of the Vivo APEX smartphone which was unveiled in Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, which came with a stunning 91% screen –to-body ratio and an under-display fingerprint sensor.

In China, the Vivo Nex was launched in two variants: the Nex A and Nex S of which the Nex S variant was launched in India which features a under display fingerprint sensor and claims to be 10 percent faster with 50 percent improved accuracy. The device will be called just Vivo Nex here.

The Vivo Nex has comes with no bezel in three sides and only a tiny chin below. The front camera comes out from the midframe as previously seen on the Vivo Apex. The UI buttons are replaced with lines replacing the traditional ones.

As for the specs it features a 6.59 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of FHD+ (2316 x 1080 pixels) and an aspect ratio 19:3:9. Under the hood, it is powered by an Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

It sports a dual camera setup on the rear with a 12MP Sony IMX363 primary sensor with dual core pixels, 4-axis OIS along with a 5MP secondary camera. It has an 8MP pop-up camera on the front. It runs on FunTouch OS 4.0 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo and backed by a 4,000 mAh battery, Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual band Wifi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0 port, and OTG. It measures 162 x 77 x 7.98 mm.

It will be available in colour options and comes at a price tag of Rs 44,990. At this price it will compete against the likes of the OnePlus 6, recently launched Oppo Find X and possibly the upcoming Huawei Nova 3. Vivo Nex was up for pre-order on Amazon during the Amazon Prime Day sale for a brief period and is now currently up for preorder again on Amazon.  It will go on sale on Amazon India and Vivo Online store from July 21st.

Huawei Nova 3 & Nova 3i Officially Unveiled in China!

As scheduled, Huawei has announced its two new midrangers in Nova series i.e. the Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i smartphones today on July 18, at an event held in Shenzhen, China. Both of which go on par with the previous leaks and teasers. Additionally, the company has also launched the TalkBand B5 alongside a new 360-degree camera.

Both the devices come with a similar design that we have seen in past from Huawei and its sub-brand Honor, counting in the glass back with vertically stacked dual camera setup and a notch at the front.

Huawei Nova 3

The Huawei Nova 3 comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ display IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2340×1080 and a notch, adding to the aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Under the hood, it is powered by the latest flagship Kirin 970 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

In the optics department, the back houses a dual-camera setup that features a 16MP RGB lens along with a 20MP monochrome shooter, both having an aperture of f/1.8. Similar to the recent Huawei devices, this one too packs nifty AI features in Camera app including the smart scene detection and portrait mode.

Whereas, at the front, we have a 24MP + 2MP dual-camera setup for portrait selfies. We do get an infrared wide-spectrum lens as well that enhances the functioning of face unlock.

The device is backed by a 3,750mAh battery that can be juiced up quickly using Huawei’s SuperCharge fast charging technology.

Huawei Nova 3i

The Huawei Nova 3i too sports a 6.3-inch 19.5:9 FHD+ display, identical to the Nova 3. However, it packs the recently launched Kirin 710 SoC and is the first one to do the same. It comes in two configurations including 4/64GB and 6/128GB RAM and storage options. Yeah, you read it right, the 6GB version has relatively lesser storage than the base variant.

Huawei Nova 3i

This one comes with four cameras too including the 24MP+2MP dual setup at the front and a 16MP+2MP dual camera setup at the rear. It is powered by a 3340mAh battery.

Both the devices run on EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and pack the latest 3D Qmoji and GPU Turbo technology for improved graphics and better power efficiency.

Pricing and Availability

The Huawei Nova 3 costs CNY2,999 (roughly Rs.30,300) and comes in Black, Blue, Gold, and Purple colour variants.

On the other hand, the Nova 3i will be available in Bright Black, Pearl White, and Blue-Purple colours at a price of CNY1999 (roughly Rs.20,200) and CNY2199 (roughly Rs.22,200) for the 4GB & 6GB variants, respectively.

Both the phones will go on sale in China from 10:08 am on July 19, along with the additional 360-degree camera that costs CNY 599 (roughly Rs. 6,100). These two phones will be landing in India as well on July 26, as teased by Amazon.
