HMD Global Launches Nokia 3.1 Plus & Nokia 8110 4G in India

After launching new devices like Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus in recent few days, HMD Global, the current licensee for Nokia has now launched the new Nokia 3.1 Plus smartphone in India along with a revamped version of Nokia 8110 aka the Banana phone.

Nokia 3.1 Plus

As it was reported yesterday, the Nokia 3.1 Plus is yet another mid-range device from the company. It sports a plastic back and a 6-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) IPS display (No Notch) along with an 18:9 aspect ratio and covered with 2.5D glass on top.

Under the hood, the device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6762) SoC, coupled with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16/32GB of onboard storage which can be expanded further via microSD card (up to 400GB).

In the optics department, the Nokia 3.1 Plus gets a dual camera setup at the back comprising of a 13-megapixel primary sensor having an aperture of f/2.0 along with PDAF, paired with a 5-megapixel secondary monochrome sensor with a f/2.4 aperture. Both the lenses have a pixel size of 1.12-microns. Moreover, users do get an option to refocus on the subject after the picture has been captured. For selfies, we have an 8-megapixel fixed focus f/2.2 shooter at the front with AI features.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the software front, it runs on stock Android 8.1 Oreo (under Android One programme) and draws its juice from a 3,500mAh battery.

The 2/16GB variant of the Nokia 3.1 Plus is priced at Rs. 8,900 while the high-end 3/32GB model is pitted at Rs. 11,499. The smartphone will go on sale in Blue, White, and Baltic color options starting from October 19 across major online and offline stores.

Nokia 8110 4G

The Nokia 8110 4G is the revamped version of Nokia 8110 that was launched way back in June. It comes in a banana like-shape (known as Banana Phone for the same reason). Moreover, it packs in a 2.45-inch QVGA (240×320 pixels) curved screen display.

The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 SoC coupled with 512MB of LPDDR3 RAM and 4GB of inbuilt storage (can be expanded using the given MicroSD slot). It runs on KaiOS, loaded with important apps like Google Maps, Google Assistant, Facebook etc. The company has also given the support for Wifi Hotspot in the device.

Furthermore, it gets a 2-megapixel camera at the back along with an LED flash. This 4G feature phone draws its juice from a 1,500mAh battery, also offers IP52 drip protection.

Connectivity options like 4G VoLTE with hotspot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, a Micro-USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are present onboard. The Nokia 8110 4G will go on sale from October 24 at a price of Rs 5,999.

Infinix S4 Launched in India! Comes with 32MP Selfie Camera, Triple Cameras &a

After the launch of the Smart 3 Plus, Infinix has launched the Infinix S4 in the Indian market. The budget smartphone comes with premium features like a triple camera setup. The company has also launched the X Band 3 fitness band alongside the smartphone. It has a real-time heart rate monitoring feature and up to 20-day battery life.

The Infinix S4 features a 6.21 inch display with a resolution of HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels), 19:5:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass display protection. Under the hood, there is a Helio P22 octa-core chipset paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage that can be further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.

In the optics department, there is a triple camera setup at the back with a 13MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP 120-degrees ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP sensor with a Quad LED flash. On the front, it offers a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. It comes with features such as auto scene detection across eight modes including portrait, text, night, backlight HDR, blue sky, sports, and others.

The dual SIM handset runs on XOS 5.0 based on Android 9 Pie and is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v5, micro USB port, 3.5 mm audio jack while sensors onboard include proximity sensor, G-sensor, light sensor, and compass. It has a rear fingerprint sensor but supports Face Unlocking as well. It measures 156 x 75 x 7.9 mm and weighs 155 grams.

The Infinix S4 is priced at Rs. 8,999 for the single variant and will be available in Nebula Blue, Space Grey, and Twilight Purple color options. The phone will be available for purchase on Flipkart from May 28 at 12 PM. The X Band 3, on the other hand, comes at a price tag of Rs. 1,599 and will be available on Flipkart from June 4.

Honor 20 Pro & Honor 20 Launched! Comes with 48MP Quad Cameras, Kirin 980 & Android (yes, it is)!

Honor today launched its Honor 20 series of smartphones at an event in London. The event first saw the launch of the Honor 20 Pro and the Honor 20 after that. The Honor 20 Lite has already been announced in Malaysia and UK.

The Honor 20 Pro and the Honor 20 are quite similar in terms of looks. Usually with smartphones, the Pro variant comes with a bigger display. But both the models feature a 6.26 inch “All-View” IPS LCD display with a 4.5 mm punch hole in the top left corner. The company claims the hole punch to be the smallest resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of 91.6%.

Coming to the back of the smartphone, the Honor 20 series comes with a “Dynamic Holographic Design” that employs a two-stage process to create a 3D curved glass back with a “depth-inducing” optical effect. Both the smartphones have quad camera setup on the rear, though the Pro has slightly better hardware. Instead of introducing a rear fingerprint sensor or an under-display one, Honor went for a side mounted fingerprint sensor which is more practical.

The Honor 20 Pro has a combination of 48MP primary camera, 16MP Super-Wide angle, 8MP telephoto, and a 2MP macro lens. On the other hand the Honor 20 sports a 48MP primary camera, 16MP Super-Wide angle, 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. The Pro variant’s 48MP camera has a wider f/1.4 aperture and OIS. On the front, the devices offer a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. Honor’s “AIS Super Night Mode” also makes a return for low-light photography. Additionally, there is a 30X digital zoom and a handheld “moon shot” on the Pro.

Under the hood, the Honor 20 Pro and the Honor 20 is powered by the latest 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB internal storage (UFS 2.1) with no expandable memory. They run on Magic UI 2.1 based on Android 9 Pie with upgraded GPU Turbo 3.0. Despite the ban on Huawei for using Android, Honor has launched the phone with Android based Magic UI.

The company has also partnered with Epic games to allow Fortnite at 60fps. The Pro variant has a slightly bigger battery at 4,000 mAh while the standard variant comes with a 3,750 mAh one. They both support 22.5W SuperCharge 1.0. There is also support for “Virtual 9.1 Surround Sound” and “AI frequency compensation’ to reduce earphone irritation and fatigue.

The Honor 20 pricing starts at 499 Euros (Rs 38,500 approx) for the 6/128GB variant while the Pro variant with 8/256GB variant will cost 599 Euros (Rs 46,500 approx). It will be available in 4 color options: Midnight Black and Safari Blue for the base model and Phantom Blue and Phantom Black for the higher-end model. In India, the company has joined hands with Flipkart for the sale of smartphones.

Redmi Note 7S Launched in India. Just the Global RN7 with a Different Name!

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7s here in India, which is just the rebranded Global Redmi Note 7. There were tweets regarding the launch of the device when Xiaomi India sold 2M units of the Redmi Note 7 series. There were tweets with the hashtag #48mpforeveryone. And our guessing didn’t go wrong, i.e we had already predicted that the Redmi Note 7 global version would be the rebranded Note 7s here in India. So there is a mess of Redmi devices in the range i.e from 9999 to 13999.

It sports a 6.3 inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with a Dot-notch. The device has a screen to body ratio of 81.37%. The screen is in the aspect ratio of19:5:9. The display is of LTPS in-cell display. It has a contrast ratio of 1500:1.

It can go up to 450 nits. The device comes in Aura design with a glass back with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, P2i nano-coating making it splashproof. It is powered by Snapdragon 660 coupled with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of storage. It can be also expanded via memory card. It has a hybrid slot instead of a triple slot.

Talking about optics, it has a dual rear camera setup. The primary sensor is a 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor with an aperture value of f1.79. It has a 5MP secondary depth sensor. To the front, it has a 13MP f2.2 sensor on the Dot-notch. It has EIS support for videos up to 1080P 60FPS.

The phone is backed by a 4000mAh battery, which also supports QC 4 fast charging. The device runs on Android 9 Pie onboard coupled with MIUI 10. As usual, it comes with a 10W charger in the box, we’ve to buy the fast charger. The device has a physical rear fingerprint sensor. The device comes in color editions like Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue, and Ruby Red.

The device is priced at 10,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and at 12,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant. The device will go on sale from May 23 onwards in Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi stores.
