samsung galaxy s20 series

Samsung has been teasing the Galaxy S20 flagship series for weeks and has been subjected to multiple leaks. The South Korean manufacturer finally showed off the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event at San Francisco. All three smartphones are powered by the same chipset, Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 depending on the location.

The base Galaxy S20 is the successor of the last year’s Galaxy S10e. It features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution (3200 x 1400 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate. The slightly larger Galaxy S20+ on the other hand sports a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with the same resolution and refresh rate. The top-of-the-line Galaxy U20 Ultra packs a 6.92-inch display and again with the same resolution and refresh rate.

On the optics, the Galaxy S20 has a triple camera rear setup of a 12MP primary shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 64MP 3X telephoto camera and a 10MP selfie shooter. The Galaxy S20+ packs the same camera configuration as the Galaxy S20 while the Galaxy S20 Ultra features a 108MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 48MP periscope telephoto camera with 10X optical zoom and a 40MP selfie shooter.

To handle the 108MP camera, Samsung has included up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM on the highest-end unit. This makes the Galaxy S20 Ultra the only smartphone with 16GB of RAM. It will be the first smartphone to feature 16GB of RAM, but not for long. Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi will be announcing its flagship Mi 10 line-up just a couple of days from now and the devices are expected to come with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The three device pack in different sizes of batteries with 4,000 mAh on Galaxy S20, 4,500 mAh on the Galaxy S20+ while the Galaxy S20 Ultra is rated at 5,000 mAh.

Samsung today launched the Galaxy M31 in India. The mid-range smartphone is the  successor of the highly popular Galaxy M30 launched last year. While Samsung has mostly made minor changes compared to the M30 and the M30s, it has added a polycarbonate back making a departure from the all glass panel design look that other competitors follow in the segment.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 features a 6.4 inch FHD+ AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19:5:9. Under the hood, it is powered by an Exynos 9611 chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage which can be further expanded to 512GB. The smartphone runs Samsung One UI based on Android 10. The UI brings some interesting features the company claims are tailored to users in India.

One of the main highlights of the phone is the quad camera setup at the rear. It consists of a 64MP primary camera that uses pixel binning technology to produce sharp 16MP images which consumes less storage. It is paired with an 8MP secondary wide-angle sensor, a 5MP tertiary macro sensor and a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. On the front there is a 16MP sensor housed on a water-drop notch. Samsung has added a dedicated Night Mode and 4K recording support on both the front and rear cameras along with hyperlapse and slo-mo videos.

The phone also boasts a massive battery of 6,000 mAh battery that Samsung claims to help users last more than one day on a single charge. It comes with support for 15W fast charging through a USB Type-C port. Other features include Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm headphone jack and a square-shaped capacitive fingerprint sensor at the rear.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 pricing starts at Rs 14,999 for the 4GB/64GB variant while the 6GB/128GB variant is priced at Rs 15,999. It will go on sale on March 5 at 12PM via Amazon’s India’s website in Ocean Blue and Space Black color options. It will be competing against the likes of Poco X2, Realme X2 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro in its segment.

iQOO 3 Launched In India! Comes with SD865, in Both 4G & 5G Variants!

iqoo 3

iQOO is the first brand actually to announce a 5G smartphone in India. But right after the company announced that on February 25th, the iQOO 3 would be launched in India, Realme went ahead to launch their flagship Realme X50 Pro 5G. Today, iQOO launched the iQOO 3 and with that, the brand officially entered the crowded and ever-expanding Indian smartphone market. However, there is a 4G variant of the phone as well.

In terms of hardware, the iQOO 3 has flagship chipset, UFS 3.1 storage and more. The iQOO 3 features a 6.4-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display and the display is HDR10+ certified. The display has a 180Hz Super Touch Response rate, which is 50% higher than most phones. The phone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on both the front and the back.

The iQOO 3 is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC coupled with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and Adreno 650 GPU. The 8GB variant of the phone comes with 128GB onboard storage, while the top variant of the phone with 12GB RAM comes with 256GB onboard storage. However, on the top variant of the device, there is UFS 3.1 storage, which is significantly faster. Also, only the 12/256GB variant is capable of 5G, rest of the variants are 4G only.

In terms of camera, the phone comes with a quad-camera setup on the back, which may sound pretty standard for 2020. But, the implementation and choice of lenses are quite different from others. There is a 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor as a primary camera. Along with that, there is a 13-megapixel telephoto lens, another 13-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Quad-camera setup on smartphones is standard these days. But iQOO has focused on a significant concern raised by many, i.e., improving the wide-angle and telephoto lens. Instead of 8-megapixel wide-angle lens iQOO 3 uses a 13-megapixel lens, which offers higher levels of sharpness. Also, the 13-megapixel telephoto lens provides up to 20X zoom so that capturing distant objects in great detail is never an issue. There are features like Super Anti-shake that use the EIS algorithm with an ultra-wide-angle lens. While recording a video, it can perform real-time image stabilization processing by cutting and processing the edges of the screen.

The phone runs Android 10 out of the box with iQOO UI 1.0 skin on top, packed with various gaming-centric features. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G VoLTE, and other typical connectivity options like dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1. The phone uses a USB-C port for charging and data transfer. The iQOO 3 packs a large 4400mAh battery, which supports charging speeds of up to 55 Watts, making it possible to charge the phone from 0%-50% in just fifteen minutes. iQOO calls it Super Flash Charge, and yes, it’s speedy and one of the fastest in the industry right now.

iQOO 3 is a flagship gaming phone with various features that are intended for gamers. iQOO 3 comes with a Carbon Fiber Vapor Cooling System for faster heat dissipation so that the phone stays cool during intense gaming. There are two pressure-sensitive buttons on the side of the phone, called Monster Touch Buttons. These buttons let users use quick multi-finger operations in the game. There is Monster Mode, which lets users allocate all the resources for CPU or GPU intensive tasks like gaming or video rendering.

In terms of pricing, the base variant of 8/128GB is priced at Rs.36,990. The next variant of 8/256GB is priced at Rs.39,990, and the highest-end 5G capable 12/256GB is priced at Rs.44,990!
