on

BlackBerry Mobile today announced in their official twitter account that it would be launching the BlackBerry KEY² next month. The image contains the tag “AN ICON REBORN” along with the venue, date and time of the event. The smartphone is the successor of  the last year’s BlackBerry KeyOne which managed to grab eyes with its keyboard design but was let down by performance issues. The tag line “AN ICON REBORN” may be hint to the fact that the company will take a modern approach in designing the smartphone.

This image clears previous confusion about the name of the smartphone which ranged from KEYone (2018) to KEYtwo. The launch event will be held in New York on June 7 from 10 AM. The tweet didn’t reveal any picture or any details about the smartphone.

The smartphone appeared last month in Chinese mobile certification website TENAA with codename “Athena’ revealing its design aspects. From the image, the smartphone didn’t have the BlackBerry logo on the spacebar and had a rubberised texture on the back. The power button and the volume rocker are placed on the right side. The smartphone seem to feature dual camera setup on the back stacked in a horizontal position the upper left corner. The 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB type-C port can be clearly seen.

BlackBerry KEY² will be a Android smartphone and come with a physical QWERTY keypad something the company is known for. The smartphone also recently cleared Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certification. From these we know that the device will sport a dual band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. According to the rumours, the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.

Currently there is no more information regarding the specs, price or availability of the smartphone in other markets like India.

on

There is a lot of hype and expectation from the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10. Samsung already confirmed to be unveiled at an event in San Francisco on February 20. Now, just a couple of weeks before its launch, reports have it that the Korean manufacturer will launch three basic models of the Galaxy S10 along with a 5G model though it is not the first time it’s known to the public.

The 3C certification in China approved two more models of the Galaxy S10 taking the number to 5 in China. China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) already granted certification to three models of the smartphone with model number SM-690F, SM-G975F and SM-G073F back in 2018.

The newly certified models with model number SM-G9730 and SM-G9750 are likely to be the Galaxy S10 and the higher Galaxy S10 Plus. The 3C certification revels that they will ship with the EP-TA200 travel charger with 9.0V/1.67A or 5.0V/2.0A output.

From previous reports, the Samsung Galaxy S10 will be available in three variants: a regular version, a Plus version and a flat variant. The handset is said to feature an Infinity-O display with a cut-out notch containing the selfie camera. It is also expected to sport a new in-screen fingerprint scanner that used ultrasonic sound technology along with a technology called “Powershare” (possibly reverse charging). It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 in the US while the other markets will get the Exynos 9820 version. There will be a triple camera setup at the rear.

We already know the prices of the variants from previous leaks. The Lite variant of the smartphone with a 5.8 inch display and 128GB storage will be priced at £669 while the regular variant of the S10 featuring 6.1 inch display with 128GB and 512GB storage will come at a price tag of £799 and £999 respectively. The third model will be available a 128GB, 512GB and 1TB storage variant costing £89, £1099 and £1399.The 1TB storage variant is likely to be the 5G variant with 6.7 inch display with six cameras.

Google Pixel 3 Lite Spotted in Geekbench. Powered by SD710 & 6GB RAM!

Published

on

Google is rumoured to be working on two mid-range Pixel 3 devices that will be reportedly called Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite. The news has been doing rounds for quite some time and everytime it makes headlines there is some new information about the devices. Finally, the device appeared on benchmarking website GeekBench revealing the specifications of the handset. From the list, it seems that the specifications are of the Pixel 3 Lite XL.

The GeekBench listed the device as Foxconn Pixel 2 XL which could be the new Lite Pixel variant. The listed device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM. However, previous reports indicated that the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite will be powered by mid-range 670 SoC and will not have that much of RAM. The Foxconn Pixel 2 XL managed a 1805 and 5790 points on the single core and multi-core test respectively.

Going back to the spec list, the smartphones powered by the SD 710 will definitely make the phones more affordable than their bigger Pixel siblings without compromising much on the processing power. The SD 710 already powers mid-range handsets such as the Nokia 8.1 Plus. Surprisingly, the RAM storage is more than the current Pixels’s top out at 4GB. It will likely run on stock version of Android 9 Pie being a Pixel device.

From the previous rumours it is expected to get a 12MP rear camera from the premium Pixel 3 offerings and will offer a 8MP front camera. The Pixel 3 speculated to feature a 5.5 inch FHD+ display and backed by a 2,915 while the Pixel 3 XL gets a 6 inch FHD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio.

Foxconn is handling the production of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones. If this benchmarks turns out to be true, it will be gearing up more production work from Google in the coming months. If previous rumours are to be believed, the smartphone duo will launch sometime in Spring, possibly around March 2019.
