Black Shark Gaming Phone To Be Unveiled Soon, Company Teases Snapdragon 845 Officially

Published

on

A gaming smartphone from Xiaomi codenamed Black Shark SKR-A0 was spotted on benchmarking sites like AnTuTu and Geekbench earlier. These benchmarks quite gave us an idea of how the phone is going to be in a completely different segment than others and what it will pack. Now, looks like it is almost official. Black Shark Technology Incorporated is now official, and it’s backed by Xiaomi.

The company has released a poster of the smartphone which will be unveiled soon. Now the leaks are also confirmed as the poster clearly mentions that the Black Shark gaming smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.

The Snapdragon 845 is Qualcomm’s flagship SoC and most of the high-end Android phones to be launched this year will pack the same like we have already seen the US variant Galaxy S9, which is being powered by the Snapdragon 845.

The company also talked about a feature called ‘Shark Space’, which is expected to be something like the Game Center feature. The company is also running a lucky draw on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, under which 3 lucky winners will get a Black Shark smartphone on 30th March, as they launch the device.

Till now, we got a little idea about the possible specs of the Black Shark smartphone from the leaks which suggest that that the phone will feature a Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Along with the Snapdragon 845, it will pack 8GB RAM and 32GB of storage onboard.

Also, as the leaks mention just 32GB onboard storage, we can expect a memory slot for expansion or we may even see multiple variants of the device that may come with more storage like 64GB or 128GB. As of now, it is expected that the phone will run the Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, but we’re not quite sure what kind of skin will be put on the OS, neither we know whether it will have a skin which is almost like Stock Android like we have seen on the Razer Phone.

However, features like a display with high refresh rate, stereo speakers, headphone jack are expected. And yes, ‘headphone jack’ is a feature for many people like me, who doesn’t like dingles and connectors, which get lost so easily.

Black Shark Technology Incorporated has signed a partnership deal with JD.com for sales and promotions. So, looks like we’re not far from witnessing a new smartphone from a new brand, but backed by Xiaomi, a firm and reputed smartphone maker at present.

Gaming smartphones usually come with a cooling system and this upcoming handset will no different. Samsung has already showcased their Water Carbon cooling system in the Galaxy Note 9. As for the launch date, the Samsung gaming smartphone is expected to be unveiled in November.

The company is also stated to bring a new display technology that will be a solution to the notched displays. Twitter user Ice Universe spotted Samsung announcing a new AMOLED display technology during its OLED Forum conference in China. The display will include a fingerprint scanner, sound, haptics and under panel sensor (UPS) which eliminating the need of a notch.

Huawei is developing its own gaming centric device under Huawei brand (they already have one under Honor, Honor Play). Samsung gaming phone will be competing against the likes of Xiaomi Black Shark 2ASUS ROG phone and Nubia Red Magic.
